New Domain Laptops!
Northland Central has begun the process of replacing all domain managed laptops with Framework Model 12's. Older model Dell Latitudes will continue to be supported and repaired until they reach 5 years from date of issuance. If you are in need a replacement please dial x205 from your phone, or open a ticket on the Helpdesk.

NCSCMS, Plex for us all!
NCS pushes Plex Media Player to each and every mobile device, and desktop/laptop in the domain. NCSCMS is the preferred way for multimedia to be distributed to each end user. Currently plex has nearly 1500 movies, and 110 complete tv shows. We are also building our NCSCMS University. Posting video coarses that NCS end users have requested. If you find one of your favorite movies, or tv shows is missing from NCSCMS you can easily either submit a ticket via the helpdesk or submit a request from your NCSCMS account.

NCSANS NPM System
If you are a Site Admin, or
Site tech, your domain email has been added to our Network Performance Management System. Northland Central Services has migrated all NPM services from Manage Engine OP Manager Pro to a new instance of Solarwinds NPM located on indominable server. In your email there is a URL and login instructions. If you need access please submit a ticket to the helpdesk with your reasoning why access is needed.

NCSISS Camera System
Northland Central Services has recently completed the migration of all internal security systems from on site Blue Iris instances to the new Hanwha Wave VMS solution. The apliction suite (Wave 3.0.0.543) has already been deployed to users who need it. The mobile application also has been deployed. NCSAMS will uninstall older versions of Blue Iris over the next couple of weeks. If there are issues with remote access, or a configuration issue submit a ticket via the helpdesk.

HOT TIP

NCSAMS App Management
The NCSAMS (Manage Engine UEMS agent) will from time to time run scripts on your machine to pull your machines application status. Every domain machine has a preset set of applications pushed to it by default by NCSAMS. Whether it be Firefox, Microsoft Office,Adobe Reader, or any of the other applications that are used by us, NCSAMS will deploy and keep them up to date automatically to make each users life a little easier.

Windows 11 Enterprise
Currently NCS MIS/IT is reviewing Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 22H2 for use on domain managed systems. As users may notice, when an end user tries to upgrade to Windows 11 currently, the install will fail. At this time NCSAMS holds all MS Windows installs to either Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2, or Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 1909 based on the endpoint use case. At this time there is no time table for when Windows 11 will be approved for useage on the network. If you have questions or concerns please dia the helpdesk at x205

NCS Exchange Migration
Onsite NCS email has been moved from the on premise to the NCS M365 tenant Exchange infanstructure. If you need assistance with moving your outlook PST file, or moving your mobile Outlook to your M365 please submit a helpdesk request. While the onsite exchange infanstructure will stay on, all new email accounts will be built in M365

.

NCSPBX
Due to recently changes in the how licensing is done for our on-premise install of 3CX enterprise, NCS MIS/IT has begun the prcoess of migration of our current phone system to something new. While we are not looking for any cloud platforms, MIS/IT is interested in user feedback in regards to features the phone system currently has, or ones that are missing you would like. All users have been added to a Teams group called NCS Voice Migration, feel free to submit your requests there.

HOT TIP

NCSAMS Patch System
The NCSAMS (Manage Engine Desktop Central agent) will from time to time run scripts to pull your machines patch status. If you are in need up updates or feature upgrades, NCSAMS will push them to your system and schedule a reboot.
In this way NCS MIS/IT can both protect the network and make each end users life a little easier and streamlined.

NCSNIS -- DNS Upgrade
All sites have at this time been upgraded with new DNS upstream resolvers. Before internal DNS resolution was handled by the onsite Active Directory Replica Server and than sent out the ISP provided default route and DNS servers. That was than.... Now NCSNIS enabled sites, have two layers of DNS. Phase one is when DNS requests are made by either a server, or client machine, they are first resolved like before by your onsite Active Directory Replica Server. After that layer all requests are forwarded to the Datacenter A in lakehills sent through NCSNMRP (Northalnd Central Services Managed Resolution Platform) We use a software platform called Pi-Hole. It works in the background to block ads, malware and other malicious sites at a network level. If you have issues, or bugs to report in regards to NCSNMRP please submit a ticket to the helpdesk.
